A uranium mine is reopening in Lisbon Valley. Canadian based Anfield Energy received approval to operate the Velvet-Wood mines in Lisbon Valley from the state of Utah.

San Juan sophomore Max Stearns demolishes a Grand County ball carrier during the 2025 Homecoming game October 3 in Blanding, causing a fumble in the process. Stearns co-led Bronco tackling in the game with five stops as San Juan cruised to an 81-6 victory over the Red Devils. San Juan is 6-2 on the year, ranked second in the Utah 2A.
