Hideout in the spotlight

The Hideout Golf Course is the featured business of the week. The Hideout has gone through a few new changes this year.
San Juan County resident Tyler Ivins was hired as Golf Pro this spring. There is also a fresh new look for the club house interior. The Hideout employs two full time and six seasonal employees, Golf Pro Tyler Ivins and Grounds Superintendant Chris Leavitt are onboard full time.
The Hideout’s main goal this year is to increase the play on the course. Marketing efforts have covered a four state area and staff has been increasing efforts to keep the website maintained. A healthy tournament list is already in play for the summer season. The men’s league is growing with monthly events underway.
The Hideout has also implemented a junior golf program to teach the fundamentals and generate competency for youth that are interested in the sport. The program has 15 to 20 youth per week attending and has room for more if they are interested.
The Hideout has paired up with the City of Monticello on the Finders Keepers project. A fun activity for families and friends, the staff has hidden new Native American designed pots and “artifacts” along the trails of the course for people to find and keep as a memento of their visit.
The Finders Keepers project was designed to not only give visitors something to do in the evenings while staying in Monticello, but to give them a chance to view the course and spread the word about its originality.
