George “A” Brown

George “A” Brown passed away January 2, 2017 in St. George, UT. George was born September 24, 1943 in Blanding, UT to Ilo Merle Brown and Alice Hawkins Brown.
After George finished the eighth grade, his family moved to Olatha, CO where he graduated from high school. The family then moved to Americus, GA to work on an LDS church farm.
While they lived in Americus, George married Dee Ann Vause in 1963. They later divorced.
George and his family moved to Missouri to be closer to more LDS families. He married Thelma Sue Williamson in St. Louis, MO in 1966 but divorced her soon afterwards.
He moved to California, where he met and married JoAnn Radke April 16, 1971. She was from Ann Arbor, MI. They moved to West Valley City, UT and from Utah to Michigan twice. While they lived in Collinston, UT he ran a VW business.
The first two children, Douglas and Daniel, were born in Michigan. The others were born in Utah; Dena, Dale, Dustin and Dennis.
They ended up in  Blanding, UT in 1986. George and JoAnn divorced in 1992.
George married Vida Dixon in 1994 in Malad, ID. They set up housekeeping in Samaria, ID. They moved to Winslow, AZ where they divorced.
George then moved to Blanding in 2002 and lived by his son Dale and his family, where he helped Dale with his diesel mechanic business. All of his other sons lived in Blanding at that time.
George loved to stay busy. He often went camping and was great at Dutch oven cooking for his family. He also often went riding in his pickup truck, looking for deer.
He loved his children and grandchildren and would wait anxiously outside when he knew they were coming.
His favorite make of trucks and cars was Dodge. He enjoyed buying one, fixing it up, and selling it, so he could buy another to fix up. He did this for the last 35 years.
He especially loved helping his sons fixing up their trucks. He was a tool and die maker and enjoyed making Navajo-type jewelry.
He was a quiet man and will be missed by his family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He joined the church in his youth.
George is survived by his six children; Douglas G. (Katie Bradford) Brown of Grand Junction, CO, Daniel W. (Margo Hunt) Brown of Heber City, UT, Dena L. (Neal) Moon of Malad, ID, Dale A. (Shylowe Bellm) Brown of Blanding, Dustin C. (Autumn Daves) Brown of Dove Creek, CO, Dennis H. (Nicole Wood) Brown of Washington, UT. Also, 20 grandchildren, with two on the way, and three great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by two step-sons, Dr. Anslem Yazzie and Berlyn Yazzie, Jr. both of Arizona; brothers David Brown of Ramona, CA, Harold (Connie Mitten) Brown of West Valley City, UT and sister Callie (Marley) Hamblin of Kaysville, UT; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Myrle Schmidt, great-grandson Beckham Summerhays, and sister-in-law Sharolyn Differt Brown.
Services were held at the San Juan Mortuary in Blanding. Interment was at the Blanding City Cemetery January 7, 2017.
The family gathered at the LDS South Chapel in Blanding after the graveside service. They came from as far away as Kentucky, Missouri, California and the Salt Lake area.
