Empire Electric plans outage

Empire Electric’s system, at times, requires maintenance and upgrades that result in planned outages. A planned outage is required to change the primary voltage from 4,200 to 12,500 volts. The shaded portion of the map depicts the areas that will be affected in Monticello.

The outage is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30. This may not be the most convenient time for residential customers, but it was scheduled to coordinate with the high school. Residential customers should be back in service by 6 p.m. The rest of the customers should be back in service by 7 p.m.

Empire Electric will attempt to call each customer prior to the outage date. If you have a different telephone number than our records show, please call (800) 709-3726.

There may be times Empire requires an outage for the protection and safety of the linemen and general public without notification. They appreciate your patience during these rare cases. The safety of consumers and employees with a commitment to reliable power is a primary goal.
