Sterling Scholar Runner-up - Kooper Nielson - Monticello - Social Science

Kooper Nielson -The runner up in Social Science believes that lasting change starts at the local level and rises to make the world a better place. He has watched great examples who believed that philosophy, such as his Grandfather, who served the people of Southeastern Utah for years. He also believes in the importance of education as he spent in Ecuador on a humanitarian trip. He was sent to Washington DC as part of Empire Electrics youth leadership program and serves as the Senior Class President. He does play every sport known to man (at least XC, Track, Golf, Basketball, and Baseball.) and has been Academic All-State in all of them. This year he has been the captain of the Cross Country, Basketball and Golf teams, and has been a multitime state medalist in Cross Country and Track. From Monticello High School, the son of Jeff and Alisa Nielson, Kooper Nielson.
