Sterling Scholar Runner-up- George McNaughtan - San Juan - English
The Runner-up of the English Category has excelled academically, athletically, and as a leader at San Juan High School. He serves as Student Body President, editor of the school newsletter, and has pushed for literacy through initiatives such as Books on the Bus. He earned a 35 on the ACT English and Reading sections. In athletics, he has been a varsity captain in both football and basketball, earning Academic All-State honors, First team all state, and 2A Defensive Line of the Year in football. The runner-up is the son of Matt and Leslie McNaughtan of San Juan High School: George McNaughtan
