San Juan High senior earns Daniels Scholarship
San Juan High School senior Ashlyn Bake is a recipient of the 2022 Daniels Scholarship Program. Blake is one of 34 Utah high school seniors selected for the scholarship, with over 240 students receiving the award from Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming.
Ashlyn Bake, was also named a winner in the Southeast Utah Sterling Scholar competition in the business and marketing category, and was named to Academic All-State for 2A Girls Soccer. Bake received a 30 on the ACT and has maintained a 4.0 GPA while taking college courses. She is very involved at her school as the Student Body President and FBLA chapter President at San Juan High. She is also involved in theater, and was a soccer captain. Ashlyn is the daughter of Mark and Kari Bake.
Daniels Scholars receive up to $100,000 over four years towards their undergraduate degree, depending on family need. Daniels Scholars may use their scholarship at any accredited nonprofit college or university anywhere in the United States. Selected students demonstrate the strength of character, leadership potential, and a commitment to serving the community that will position them for success. They are selected because they possess these and other distinguishing qualities and values that were important to Daniels Fund founder, Bill Daniels.
With this year’s announcement, more than 4,800 students have received the Daniels Scholarship. At any given time, nearly 1,000 Daniels Scholars are attending approximately 200 colleges and universities throughout the United States.Since 2000, more than $235 million in scholarships has been awarded through the Daniels Scholarship Program.
The Daniels Fund, established by cable television pioneer Bill Daniels, is a private charitable foundation dedicated to making life better for the people of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming through its grants program, scholarship program, and ethics initiative.
