Local principal receives Administrator of Year honors
Whitehorse High School Principal Kim Schaefer was named the School Administrator of the Year in Utah on May 2 at the inaugural Utah’s Partner in Education gala.
Governor Gary R. Herbert presented the award at the event which honors teachers, administrators, students, and advocates of the state education system.
It’s not the first time Schaefer has received accolades for her work. In 2007, she was named Utah Teacher of the Year.
Schaefer, who speaks Navajo, was inspired to teach by her grandmother, who taught in a one-room schoolhouse in South Dakota.
She taught music for 14 years, earning a Master’s degree at Utah State University and an Administrative License through Western Governor’s University.
