Chief Manuelito Scholarships for five local graduates

Five San Juan County graduates were named recipients of the Chief Manuelito Scholarship in 2024.
Synessa Atcitty, Anthony C. Done, and Shaylin A. Nez all recent graduates of San Juan High School will be attending the University of Utah.
Tatum D. Begay, also a graduate of San Juan High School will be attending Brigham Young University.
RueShandiin L Jim a graduate of Whitehorse High School will be attending the University of Arizona.
The award of $7,000 per academic year is given annually by the Office of Navajo Nation Scholarship & Financial Assistance. 119 high school graduates were recognized with the award at a ceremony at the end of July.
The Chief Manuelito Scholarship program was established in 1980 and honors the 19th-century Diné leader. According to the office Manuelito “encouraged the Navajo people to seek education and protect and preserve Navajo tradition and culture”.
