Construction near Monticello to begin soon
Highway users near Monticello are about to see immediate results from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
On Wednesday, April 15, the Utah Department of Transportation set down construction expectations for a project valued at $1.3 million on U.S. 191 north of Monticello during a pre-construction meeting.
The entire cost of the chip seal job for the 13-mile project will be covered with ARRA funds.
Crews expect to apply the new layer from mileposts 73 through 86 beginning in June. The construction should be completed in approximately one week’s time.
Additionally, on May 19, UDOT plans to open bidding on a combination of projects to rehabilitate streets in the heart of Monticello.
UDOT is seeking contractor bids to reconstruct a one-and-a-half mile stretch of U.S. 491 (Center Street) beginning at Main Street. The project will be built using $3.8 million of ARRA funding.
A project to reconstruct Monticello Main Street will be bid with the U.S. 491 project to expedite construction and save costs. Construction on the city streets could begin as early as July pending successful contractor bids.
