Young girl injured in hit and run incident

A 12-year-old girl from Blanding is in a Salt Lake City hospital after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident north of Blanding.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Department reports the girl was hit by a vehicle on Blue Mountain Road on Thursday, September 16 at around 8 p.m.

The girl suffered serious injuries and was flown to Primary Children’s Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery.

The vehicle did not stop and continued southbound into Blanding.

Deputies are checking cameras in the area that might have caught a video of the vehicle in question.

Law enforcement agencies are asking for any information from people who may have been travelling on the road at that time and may have seen something that will help in the investigation.

There is a $500 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect.

San Juan County Sheriff’s department say they appreciate the public’s assistance in the matter. You can call 435-587-2237 with any information.
