Blanding City election
A primary election for a Blanding City Council seat will be held on August 10. Blanding residents Robert Lyman, Colby Monson, and Kellen Nielson are all candidates for the two-year seat. The race will be narrowed down to two after the primary.
Blanding has contracted with San Juan County to administer the election and ballots were mailed to registered voters in Blanding.
Residents can also vote in person on Tuesday, August 10 at the Blanding City Office from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
In addition to the election profiles found on page A3 of the San Juan Record, the candidates have been invited to appear on the Redrock 92.7 FM morning show for an interview ahead of the election.
The three candidates are vying for a seat which became open after council member Logan Shumway vacated the seat at the end of 2020.
Additional municipal elections in San Juan County are slated for November. Two other Blanding City Council seats and Mayor are up for election. In addition, both Monticello and Bluff have two city council seats and mayor up for election.
