Blanding celebrates 250 years since Declaration of Independence

Large crowds gathered in Blanding for an epic Fourth of July celebration to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
The big Independence Day parade, which was led by an honor guard, featured a host of floats, dancers, riders and displays. In addition, fire engines drenched the crowd during the parade. After the parade, crowd filled Centennial Park.
Several days of events included the 43rd annual Edge of the Seaters Melodrama, quilt shows, and concerts.
Despite the drought conditions, Blanding hosted a large fireworks show that went off without a hitch.

There were a number of sporting events, including softball, volleyball, pickle ball, corn hole, and 5K races. Results are posted on page B2.
