Utah Food Bank to host charity golf tournament

The Utah Food Bank is hosting their inaugural Fore Corners Against Hunger golf tournament on Friday, September 20 at the Hideout Golf Club in Monticello.
This scramble-format tournament will directly benefit Utah Food Bank Southeastern Distribution Center’s work to fight hunger in the San Juan County area, where residents face significantly higher rates of hunger compared to the state average.
You can sign up to participate by forming a four-person team for $400, a two-person team for $200, or even supporting the event as a corporate sponsor.
All entry fees include breakfast, lunch, and beverages. Sponsorship opportunities start at $1,000 and include player registrations, recognition opportunities, and more, depending on the sponsorship level.

The Utah Food Bank opened its Southeastern Distribution Center in Blanding in February of this year, followed by food pantries in Montezuma Creek and Monument Valley in March.
Since opening these facilities earlier this year, they have served close to 30,000 individuals from the three pantry locations, handing out the equivalent of approximately 373,000 meals.
San Juan County residents face significantly higher rates of hunger compared to the state average, with 17 percent reporting food insecurity, compared with 10 percent statewide.
Disturbingly, childhood hunger is even more prevalent, with 20 percent of children uncertain about their next meal. That is double the statewide average.

“Every registration will put food on the table of a friend, family member, or neighbor, so please join us!” Last year, the Utah Food Bank distributed 60.2 million pounds of food statewide, the equivalent of 50.1 million meals.
