Travis J. Whatcott

Blanding City Council
Born in Hobbs, NM and a graduate of Delta High school in Delta, UT.  Travis played college baseball at Snow College and after returning from a LDS mission played for Dixie College.  He has been happily married to Jojo Whatcott since 2003, and is a father to 4, adventurous children.
Travis has worked as a medical laboratory assistant at Primary Children’s hospital, and a P.O.S.T certified corrections officer at the Utah state penitentiary.
In 2007, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served honorably for eight years as an Operations Specialist, achieving the rank of Petty Officer 2nd class.
While enlisted, he was decorated with a National Defense Service Medal, a Coast Guard Achievement Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.  During his Coast Guard service he studied and obtained an Associate’s degree of Science in General Studies from Colorado Technical University.
After being discharged from service, he studied at Utah State University in the Interdisciplinary Studies with focus on Physical and Health education.
During his time at USU he worked with campus recreation in creating, managing, and mentoring his fellow students through a physical fitness and weightlifting program which grew from nothing, into a thriving program which now serves 150+ students each semester.
In 2014, he graduated with his second associate’s degree from Provo College as Physical Therapist Assistant.  Currently he is employed at Precision Rehabilitation as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
He is pursuing an election to the Blanding City Council to continue a legacy of public service, while representing the public and private interests of the residents in the City of Blanding.
He believes good fiscal policies, community involvement through volunteerism, and a love of this community will continue to serve the growing needs of all of Blanding’s residents.
