Three Raiders head to state wrestling

Three Whitehorse High School wrestlers will participate in the 1A State Tournament on February 11-12 after earning honors at the Divisional Tournament on January 28.
Marcus Denny was the top finisher for the Raiders, with a second place finish at 215 pounds.
Denny fell to Jaden Kriegh of Tintic in the championship match.
Finishing third at 285 pounds is Preston Hathale.  Hathale defeated teammate Lucas Collins in the consolation finals at the regional tournament.  Both advance to the state tournament.
Also wrestling at the event is Landin Clark at 144 pounds.  Clark defeated a higher seeded wrestler in a preliminary round. He finished sixth at his weight and did not qualify for the state tournament.
It will be the first state tournament experience for all three wrestlers.
Denny and Hatthale are juniors, while Collins is a sophomore.  Whitehorse did not have a wrestling team last year because of Covid restrictions at the school.
