The San Juan, Whitehorse, and Monument Valley wrestling teams all competed at the Red Rocks Invitational in Moab on December 3 and 4.

As a team, San Juan finished third behind Durango and Mancos. Whitehorse finished 12th and Monument Valley finished 13th.

Taking home first place at the round-robin tournament was Chance Hoggard of San Juan. Hoggard finished 7-1 on the weekend with seven wins coming by fall. Hoggard’s lone loss was a 4-1 decision to Grand County’s Beachem Bosh.

Despite the one loss at the tournament, Hoggard was able to secure first place in part thanks to help from teammate Taylor Black. Black finished third at the tournament going 7-2 on the weekend with five wins coming by pin.

Black’s 6-5 decision win over Bosh helped Hoggard stand atop the podium at the end of the day.

Finishing between the two Bronco wrestlers was Whitehorse Raider Marcus Denny. Denny went 7-1 on the weekend with four wins coming by fall.
