Softball All-State Honors 2024

Three San Juan High softball players earned All-State honors for the 2024 spring season.

Trinity Whatcott

Trinity Whatcott capped an excellent high school career with an equally excellent senior year this season. In addition to the statistics listed above Whatcott threw a no-hitter on March 22 at Piute, striking out 11 of 14 batters and throwing 41 strikes in 60 pitches. She also registered two one-hitters this season, at home against Monticello on April 2 with seven strikeouts and at Grand April 16 with four strikeouts.
Head Coach Mike Bowers: “Trinity was a sophomore when I took over San Juan High School softball. She immediately made an impact on our team. She’s an amazing hitter who had many clutch hits throughout her time at San Juan. Also, she was a lights-out pitcher who worked very hard at her craft.”

Head Coach Mike Bowers: “Morgann is very athletic and has only scratched the surface of her potential in softball. She played right field and second base for us this year. She had a great state tournament so naturally other coaches noticed.
“I am so happy for all of our All-State athletes. Of course we had many girls who worked hard and had a great year, but all three of them greatly deserve this honor.”

Averie Gilson

Averie Gilson’s name consistently appeared in San Juan Record stories covering the San Juan softball team this season. She scored a team-high 36 runs, her 13 doubles also led the team, and her 25 hits and 27 RBIs ranked second to only Trinity Whatcott.
Head Coach Mike Bowers: “Averie was our lead-off hitter and shortstop this season. She’s a solid hitter who has a great understanding of the game. And she is continually working outside of practice to improve her game.”
