San Juan boys golf team finishes fourth

The young San Juan High School boys golf team put together a strong fourth-place finish in the 2A Region 19 tournament at the Palisade State Park Golf Course in Sterling, UT September 14, qualifying four golfers for the 2021 state tournament in the process.

Marty Clinger led the way for the Broncos at the tourney with a solid 99. Trevin Palmer was next in line with a 105. Isley Singer shot a 107 on the day, Treken Lee carded a 112, Jett Johnson got a 120, and Koen Cosby shot 128. Cooper Yoakam rounded out the San Juan scoring with a 135.

Through the region tournament, Clinger sports a season average of 96.1 shots per round. Palmer and Singer both have a 106.8, Johnson has a 115.2, Lee is shooting 118.3 per round, and Cosby is averaging 123.7.

Those six golfers are headed to the Roosevelt Golf Course in Roosevelt, UT to compete in the 2A boys state tournament this Wednesday and Thursday, September 29 and 30.

Bronco head coach John Young says they’re hoping for a good day one so the team can remain in action on Thursday.
