Lady Broncos basketball suffer back-to-back road losses

The San Juan High School girls basketball team finally got back on the court for a couple games this past weekend after nearly three full weeks off for the Christmas Break.
Before their games at North Sevier and Gunnison Valley this past Friday and Saturday, January 3-4 the Lady Broncos’ last game was a 53-49 win over Bryce Valley on December 14.
The start to the new year was a tough one for San Juan with a 64-43 loss to North Sevier on Friday and a 54-31 loss to Gunnison Valley on Saturday. The girls trailed from start to finish in both games.
Against North Sevier Hayden Shumway was the leading scorer for the Lady Broncos with 13 points and Khimya Fullwood poured in 12.
Kaidence Mitchell collected eight points, Madi Adams scored seven, Tzosilah Etsitty got two and Daveigh Mitchell one. Shumway and Adams scored one three-point basket apiece.
Against Gunnison Valley Fullwood led the San Juan scoring with 12 points. Syndel Atcitty scored nine, Mitchell six, and Etsitty two. Atcitty hit the lone three-pointer in the loss.
After the first two games of the new year the Lady Broncos are 4-7 on the year, ranked 17th in the 2A RPI standings to begin the week. They’re looking to get back in the win column with three games this week.
They’ll host the rival Monticello Lady Buckaroos on Thursday, January 9 at 7 p.m. Then, it’s a long weekend road trip to Coalville on Friday, January 10 to take on 2A #1 North Summit and to Duchesne to take on the #6 Lady Eagles on Saturday, January 11.
