The Monticello High School golf team played their third official match of the year this past Wednesday, April 9. All of their matches have been on the road at visiting courses this season.
This time their bus navigated the team to Price to play the Carbon Country Club where, for the third time this season, both the boys and girls both won their respective Region 19 matches.
On the boys side, Traken Lee led all golfers with an 80. He was followed by Jackson Keyes who shot a 92, Canyon Christensen who carded a 93, Kooper Nielson who hit 98, and Ryan Holt who finished with a 103.
The designated four for the boys – Lee, Keyes, Christensen, and Nielson – combined for a team score of 363. Green River and Pinnacle brought golfers but did not qualify for a team score.
Alise Lewis led the Lady Buckaroos with an 87, followed by Alli Young with a 99 and Cambree Chamberlain who scored a 102.
Freshman LE Olson continued to make her mark on the team with a 102 of her own. The team score of 390 was again good enough for a region win with neither Pinnacle nor Green River qualifying a team score.
In other news, the Battle of the Burtons continued with Lili getting the nod with her 115, defeating her younger sister Jane who notched a 125. Rebecca Chamberlain, a freshman, carded a 131.
Next on the schedule for the Buckaroos is their first home match of the season. They will host Green River and Pinnacle at the Hideout on Thursday, April 17. With friendly, familiar fairways and gracious greens, Monticello will look for their fourth consecutive region win.
