Head Coach Sidiah Parker: “Aiyana Parker is a junior at Monument Valley High School who competed in the 170-pound weight class. She is a third-year wrestler who has made significant improvements considering she wrestled her freshman year without a single win. During her sophomore year, she suffered a significant knee injury that caused some setbacks and plans for her.
“Aiyana is the prime example of having a warrior spirit and defying the odds. That was proven this season by all of her achievements, including taking second at Parowan, second at the Veterans Memorial Invite in Window Rock, second at Tintic, and first at Divisionals. At State, she pinned both of her opponents and made it to the Championship match where she lost by decision and placed second.
“Aiyana is the leader of our team and demonstrated that trait by taking a fall to her younger sister Priseis at the Tintic tournament which resulted in Priseis taking first and Aiyana taking second. Aiyana is a big sister to everyone on her team as she is always looking out for everyone. She is the Vice President of FFA as well as Junior Class President. This is only the beginning for Aiyana. Her future is very promising, and she has many goals in mind.”
