School District names new business administrator

Kyle S. Hosler has been hired as the new business administrator for the San Juan School District.  He begins work at the district office on March 23.
The Blanding native is currently serving as the Assistant Athletic Director and Business Manager for the athletic department at Southern Utah University (SUU).
Hosler takes the place of Clayton Holt, who served as business administrator at the district for the past 14 years. Holt resigned in December, 2014 to become the chief executive officer for the San Juan Health Service District.
Hosler’s new position oversees the business functions in the sprawling school district, which operates a dozen schools and serves more than 3,000 students.
In addition to managing the finances of a $40 million annual budget, the business manager oversees operations that maintains dozens of buildings, that serves more than 3,000 meals a day, that puts millions of miles a year on the road, and that employs hundreds of local residents.
Kyle, a 2006 graduate of San Juan High School, is married to the former Trina Arthur, also a Blanding native. They are the parents of two children, Peyton and Payce.
Hosler adds, “I am extremely excited to have the chance to come back to San Juan County and have a chance to work with the great people of the San Juan School District.
“There is no place on earth we would rather be. We are excited to have the chance to raise our kids in the same part of this country where Trina and I grew up.”
At SUU, Hosler manages a $10 million budget and oversees the day-to-day business operations of the athletic department.  In his first year in the position, he had the responsibility to help move the athletic department out of a $600,000 deficit to a $250,000 surplus.
Prior to the position, Hosler worked at SUU as HREOC IIC Business Manager and an IIC Office Manager.
He earned two degrees from SUU: a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting and a Masters of Public Administration.
Superintendent Doug Wright adds, “We look forward to working with Kyle to further the work of the District in support of student learning and success.”
