Monticello man faces multiple felony charges related to sexual crimes committed against minors

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office executed an arrest warrant on 74-year-old Grayson W. Redd of Monticello on July 21. Redd has been charged by the San Juan County Attorney’s office with six counts of first-degree felony and eight counts of second-degree felonies alleged to go back two decades.
In a release, the Sheriff’s Office stated that the arrest of the retired county sheriff’s deputy is a continuation of an ongoing investigation into recently disclosed criminal behavior going back at least two decades.
Allegations include Rape of a Child and Forcible Sex Abuse of both children and minors.
A probable cause statement filed with the Seventh District Court included reports from three separate individuals who described sexual abuse coming from Redd.
The individuals, all minors at the time of the alleged abuse, described similar crimes and similar proximity to Redd.
In their statement, the county sheriff’s office states that they and the county attorney,
“are dedicated to enforcing the laws, especially in the protection of society's most vulnerable, against all perpetrators, regardless of employment or social status.”
Due to the nature of this case, the position of the defendant in the community, and the prolonged duration of the charged behavior, the San Juan County Sheriff's Office and San Juan County Attorney's Office want to encourage anyone who may be a victim of Mr. Redd to contact San Juan County Attorney Victim Advocate by email,kjensen@sanjuancounty.org or San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, 435-587- 2237, in order to be connected with any available resources for crime victims.
The statement adds that even crime victims who are unable or uninterested in pursuing criminal charges against Mr. Redd may qualify for resources from the State of Utah's Office for Victims of Crime.
