Four races in June 23 Republican primary

San Juan County voters who are members of the Republican party will participate in a June 23 primary election. The process will determine the party candidate on the November 3 general election ballot in several key races.
Only registered members of the Republican party can participate in the election. Ballots have been mailed to voters and voters can choose to vote in person on election day.
Polls open at 7 am and close at 8 pm. Polling places include the Blanding Library, Montezuma Creek Dine’ Professional Plaza Building, Monument Valley Welcome Center, the Navajo Mountain Chapter House, and the San Juan County Administration Building in Monticello.
Mailed ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on June 23 in order to be counted. Ballots can be returned to voting locations by 8 p.m. on election day, in addition to the Aneth, Mexican Water and Red Mesa chapter houses.
Blanding resident Phil Lyman faces off against Celeste Malloy in a race for the southern Utah seat in Congress. Lyman, who has served in the San Juan County Commission and in the Utah State House of Representatives, seeks a seat in Congress after running for Governor in 2024.
Lyman faces Malloy, who has served in Congress for the past two years in a district that included much of western Utah. The boundaries for the Congressional seat were recently redrawn to include San Juan County and southeastern Utah.
In the Utah State House of Representatives race in District 69, Blanding resident and incumbent Logan Monson is being challenged by Garfield County resident Daniel Gardner.
In the race to represent District 3 on the San Juan County Commission, incumbent Commissioner Jaime Harvey is being challenged by Bluff businessman Amer Tumeh.
Incumbent Sheriff Lehi T. Lacy will meet Republican challenger Wyatt S. Holyoak on the June 23 Republican primary ballot. Lacy is completing a four-year term and Holyoak serves as a deputy sheriff.
The winners will face challengers from other parties in the November 3 general election.
