Poaching info sought

On August 31, 2012, law enforcement personnel with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources responded to a call from a concerned citizen about a possible deer poaching on Elk Ridge.
Conservation Officer Dennis Shumway later located a fawn deer that lay within yards of the main road on South Elk Ridge. Officer Shumway determined that the deer had been shot with a high-powered rifle.
The fawn appears to have been killed during the morning of August 31, near the corrals south of the Little Notch. Conservation officers with the Division of Wildlife Resources are seeking information concerning the poaching of this fawn.
Poaching is a serious crime that affects everyone. If you have information related to this wildlife crime, please contact the UTiP Hotline at 800-662-3337. A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Conservation Officer Shumway states, “I would like to thank all of those who have been a voice for wildlife and helped me in protecting their wildlife over the past year. As the Fall hunting seasons approach, please do your part. Remain vigilant in protecting San Juan County wildlife”.
