Wyman Hardison Redd

*November 4, 1922 ~ February 10, 2010

Wyman Hardison Redd, the greatest husband, father, grandpa, “grandpa great,” brother and friend, passed away February 10, 2010 surrounded by lots of loving family.

Born to A. Jay and Marie Redd, he was raised in Monticello, UT.

Wyman lived a full and happy life. After serving his country as a World War II pilot, he attended Brigham Young University, where he met the love of his life, Mary Louise (Lou) Madsen and quickly became her “Y” man. On June 30, 1948, they were married for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.

Returning to his roots to start a family, Wyman worked in the mercantile business, at the Monticello Uranium Mill and then spent 30 years in a small cattle and farming business with his brother Whitney.

An obedient, gentle, and patient man, Wyman is noted for his many talents in gardening, music, skiing, carpentry, and photography.

A true chocolate lover, he was especially gifted in making candy and dipping chocolates – a talent his family and others “sweetly” appreciated.

He had a delightful sense of humor, always a smile to share and a song to whistle. Loved by all, he was indeed an easy man to love.

True to his faith and with a steadfast testimony, he served in various callings and fulfilled a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Canada Calgary Mission with his sweetheart.

He loved spending time with his family and creating treasured memories of homemade root beer and ice cream, honey candy, boating trips to Lake Powell and Redd Reunions.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years and his seven children, Julie Baird, Stephen (Sue) Redd, Christine (Steve) Heap, Carolee (Paul) Curtis, Suzanne (Brian) Rau, Gary (Alice) Redd, and Rebecca (Rich) Lee; 34 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, brothers Mason (Karen) and J. Whitney (LaRaine) and sisters Imogene Hess and Alene (Elliott) Roberts.

Wyman is proceeded in death by his parents and brother Stephen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010 at noon at the Monticello LDS Stake Center, 165 S. Main Street. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
