SSG. Darby Charles Black

December 23, 1986 ~ February 16, 2015
SSG. Darby Charles Black was born December 23, 1986 in Ogden, UT to Kristen Clark-Johnson and David Black. He passed away February 16, 2015, at his home in Hawaii.
Darby lived many places but called Blanding home, where he had many friends and enjoyed fishing and camping in the outdoors.
He joined the military shortly after his graduation from high school. He spent many of the following years deployed to combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan as an infantry gunner. He earned a lot of recognition and was awarded the Bronze Star in Afghanistan.
During his return for leave between deployments, Darby married Kimberly Haller and within a few years had fathered two beautiful children. He really embraced and enjoyed being a family man.
During his military career, he was stationed at Scholfield Barracks in Hawaii; Fort Carson, CO; Fort Hood, TX and back to Hawaii.
He made many friends and brothers in the Armed Forces. He was always the life of the party.
Darby was a loving, funny, angry, impetuous person who always stood up for the people around him when they couldn’t stand up for themselves.
Darby is survived by his son Kyle; daughter Olivia; their mother Kimberly Haller Black; his mother Kristen Clark-Johnson; father David Black; and siblings Kody, Victoria, and Kristin.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother Myrtle; grandfather Maurice; and friend Sgt. John “Kyle” Daggett, for whom his son is named.
Darby will be remembered by his friends for his loyalty, by his fellow soldiers for his bravery and by his family for a tender heart full of good-natured mischief.
We love you Darby and we will miss you.
