Ronald Hollie Vowell

October 31, 1942 ~ April 10, 2012
Ronald Hollie Vowell passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, in Salt Lake City, UT.
Ron was born to Hollie and Dora Vowell on October 31, 1942, in Las Vegas, NV. He was a beautiful, black-haired, chubby baby.
When Ronnie was a child, he lived in various places, Escalante, UT, Pembroke, KY, Las Vegas, NV, Panguitch, and Murray, UT. Ron graduated from Murray High School.
In the mid 1960’s, Ron was working at one of his Dad’s many places of business, Darrell’s College of Beauty in Salt Lake City, UT. It was there that he met and married, Judith Thomas. Three darling children would bless this marriage, Shawn, Joeil, and Chad.
In 1966, Ron and Judi moved to Blanding, UT, with his dad and brother, Tom, to run Vowell and Son’s Oil Company. Ron and Tom both ran the service state and lube bay, plus drove delivery truck.
With the mountains nearby and Lake Powell within a short distance, the Vowell boys were able to hunt and fish to their hearts content.
The 1980’s rolled around and it was time for another change—time to move on. Ron and Judi moved to Monticello. Shortly thereafter they divorced. After a period of time Ron met and married LeoLa Torres. Simon David was born and brought them great joy.
Ron started suffering from ill health in 1982. After rehabilitating from a cerebral hemorrhage, Ron took a job as a security officer in various casinos in Las Vegas, NV. He and his family lived there for the next seven years.
In the late 1990’s, Ron applied for a job with the US Postal Service in Monticello, and was delighted to move back to good ‘ole San Juan County. Ron and LeoLa divorced shortly after returning to Monticello.
Due to continual health problems, Ron moved to Salt Lake City to be near Simon, his wife Sarah and their two sons.
Ron had a great love for fast cars, motorcycles, attending the Reno Air Shows with his sons and the great outdoors.
Ron is survived by his children Shawn, Chad, and Simon (Sarah) and four grandchildren, Brooke, Schai Isaiah, Oakley and Porter Vowell.
He is proceeded in death by daughter Joeil, mother Dora Vowell, father Hollie Vowell and brother Thomas L. Vowell.
A graveside funeral service will be held at the Blanding Utah Cemetery on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 11 a.m.
