Kenneth Dale Shumway

April 21, 1931 ~ March 3, 2011
Kenneth Dale Shumway 79, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on March 3, 2011.
He was born in Blanding, UT on April 21, 1931 to Seth and Vivian Shumway. He married Chloe Ann Perkins on January 20, 1951. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 16, 1956. They recently celebrated 60 wonderful years together.
Kenny served in the U.S. Navy on the “Beach Jumpers” demolition unit from 1951 to 1956. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings, including the Bishopric, Branch Presidency, and the High Counsel. He also served three stake missions.
Kenny was a uranium miner for many years and a co-owner of the Blanding Mercantile, which he helped manage. After retirement, he enjoyed farming, arrowhead hunting, and spending time with his family.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Chloe Ann and his children: Tymra Butt (Michael), Charlie Bayles, Lindsey Shumway, Jordan Shumway (Mary), and Burdette Shumway (Jackie), 23 grandkids, 25 great grandkids, brothers Deloy Shumway and Eugene Shumway and sisters Illa Johnson, Clea Johnson, Virginia Redd, Joey Holliday, and Iva Lou Perkins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a sister, grandson, and great grandson. Kenny left a legacy of love, compassion, ambition, dedication, and service that will be with us forever. We are so blessed to have been able to call him husband, dad, grandpa, and friend.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday March 9, in the Blanding LDS Stake Center. The burial was at the Blanding Cemetery.
