Joella “Jody” Shumway August 24, 1952 ~ November 30, 2024

Joella (Jody) Shumway Whitaker, age 72, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on November 30, 2024, in Blanding, UT.
She was born to Glen and Patricia Shumway on August 24, 1952. Jody grew up in Blanding, where she met and married Jeff Bailey, the father of her five children.
After their divorce, she met, fell in love with and married Daniel Whitaker, with whom she spent the remainder of her life.
Jody was an avid reader, writer, poet and artist. She devoted her life to loving her family and friends with all her heart. She had many successes and endured many hardships with grace and a warrior spirit.
Jody is preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Patsy Shumway and her brother Kelly Shumway.
She is survived by her husband Daniel Whitaker, siblings Cory Shumway, Shan (Mike) Redd, Cassie (Scott) Boyle, Leslie (Sam) Anderson, Pat (Todd) Black, and Adriann (Brian) Goodwine, children Page Bailey, Amanda Bailey, Jodi (Noah) Imel, Jake (Mikelle) Bailey, Crystal Cragun, and Carson (Jennifer) Whitaker, and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Carlie Whipple, Jordan (Kennedi) Whipple, Isabella Bailey, Hannah Bailey, Cade Bailey, Chase Bailey, Keeli Cragun, Kyah Imel, Levi Imel, Jaxon Whipple, Karson Whipple, Makayla Ayala and Dominic Whitaker.
Jody was so loved and will be greatly missed. Family, friends and others whose lives Jody touched are invited to the viewing and funeral on December 13, 2024 at the Blanding Stake Center. The viewing is from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and the funeral is at noon.
