Gloria Foy Wrathall

Gloria Foy Wrathall died on January 28, 2010, after a long illness. She was born on November 30, 1927, to Vera Kathryn Palmer Foy and Claude Harold Foy of Monticello, UT.
Her childhood was spent in Utah and California, and she especially enjoyed hiking with her father in the area around Monticello.
She married James L. Wrathall in 1947 and they moved to the San Francisco area in 1949. When her children were young, she was active in their schools and other activities.
She finished studies at San Francisco State University, and earned a master’s degree in history and a teaching certificate.
She retired in 1994, as a special education teacher in San Mateo, a vigilant advocate and patient mentor for students.
She enjoyed art, gardening, opera and travel, visiting all of the continents except Antarctica and many countries, and was a supporter of land conservation and other philanthropic efforts.
She is survived by her husband, children Jamie Haas, Celia Book, and James A. Wrathall, granddaughter Lotus Farmer, two great-grandchildren, and brothers Joseph and Norman Foy and families.
