Floyd Merle “Whit” Whittaker

February 12, 1922 ~ July 4, 2010
Floyd Merle “Whit” Whittaker, passed away after a lingering illness on July 4, 2010 at the San Juan Hospital in Monticello, UT.
He was born on February 12, 1922 in Guthrie, OK to Leland M. Whittaker and Alma Floy Drenner.
He grew up in Guthrie and Oklahoma City, OK.
Upon graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in both the European and Pacific theaters in World War II.
After discharge, he worked for South West Bell Telephone in Oklahoma City.
He married Pearl Robinson on August 25, 1961 in Lafayette, CO.
The couple moved west to the small town of Monticello, UT in 1964. He was near the mountains he loved and the outdoors he cared for deeply.
He enjoyed being in the jeep patrol. He continued his dedication to helping those in need by joining the Sheriff’s office, and along with others, formed the Sheriff’s Patrol.
Later he joined the Lion’s Club. He truly enjoyed being a part of the greater good.
Whit is survived by his wife Pearl, daughters Pam (Ron) Angle, Susan (Mike) Collins of Oklahoma City, OK, Becky (Tom) Jones-McHugh of Clifton, CO, ten grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
