Edward Nielson Lyman (Edd) August 22, 1937 ~ January 18, 2022

Edward Nielson Lyman (Edd), age 84 passed away January 18, 2022 at home in Blanding, UT.
He was born August 22, 1937 in his Granddad and Grandma Nielson’s home in Blanding to Barton Finlinson Lyman and Ida Venice Nielson Lyman.
He was the second child in a family of eight: Barta, Edd, Jessie, Jay, Ramona, Mike, Jini, and John. He was seven years old when his dad was drafted in the Navy.
Edd graduated from San Juan High School when he was 17. He went to work for his Dad delivering mail until the Postal Department said he was too young to be hauling the mail. The drivers had to be at least 21.
He went to work at the uranium mill in Monticello for three years and then back to delivering mail and freight when he turned 21.
Edd worked for Lyman Truck Line for 17 years. He worked for IML Trucking for ten years and after they went  bankrupt, he returned to Blanding and went back to work with Lyman Truck Line delivering mail and freight.
When the Truck Line dropped the freight business, Edd had the mail contract to Bullfrog put in his name under Lake Powell Mail Inc. After 15 years of delivering mail to Bullfrog, he gave up the contract and retired at the age of 79. 
In 1959, Edd married Bonnie Loraine Barnard. To this union was born three children: Jody, Dana, and Jim. Edd was devastated when his marriage of 14 years deteriorated and ended in divorce. In 1979, he married Judy Finlinson and Ida Elizabeth joined the family. 
Edd was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as an assistant Boy Scout Leader to Frank Wright. The highlight of this calling was taking the scouts on a floating trip down the Colorado River from Hite to where they were building the Glen Canyon Dam.
He served in the District Presidency in Tuba City working with the Navajos, Hopis and Anglos. He served as Cub Scout Leader in the Mesa Arizona 27 Ward.
He served as Financial Clerk in the Blanding 1st Ward for 17n years. He served as Stake Auditor in the Blanding Utah Stake for three years. He served as secretary in the High Priest Quorum in four different presidencies.
He is survived by his wife Judy, daughters Jody and Ida (Eric) Acton of Blanding, son Jim and his daughter Dana (Mark) Sutton of Moab, 21 grandkids, 21 great grandkids, and one great-great grand child, brother John (Michele) Lyman, sister Jessie Baylor, brother Mike (Joni) Lyman and sister Jini (Carlos) Roby.
He is preceded in death by parents Bart Lyman and Venice Lyman, sisters Barta Guymon and Ramona Bradford, brother Jay Lyman, brothers-in law Boyd Bradford and John Baylor, and grandson Eddie Lyman.
