Dixie Rae Wright Dyer

April 2, 1929 ~ September 24, 2010
On September 24, 2010 our loving mother, Dixie Rae Dyer (Wright), passed away peacefully at her home in Cold Springs, NV, having succumbed to leukemia and renal failure.
The daughter of Chester A. and Vera (Bliss) Wright, she was born in Fruita, CO on April 2, 1929.
She spent her youth in that area as well as much of southern and eastern Utah, as her family were independent uranium miners, her father Chester, being one of the first in America.
She met the love of her life, Delbert Dyer, in Naturita, CO and they were married, having eloped to Aztec, NM in 1946, shortly after his return from Europe at the close of World War II.
Together they had six children; four sons, Ed (Sophie) Dyer of Fallon, NV; Chris (Carrie) Dyer of Vernal, UT; Rodney and Mason Dyer of Fallon, NV and two daughters; Deanna (Jon) Sundstrom of Emery, UT and Toni Archer of Cold Springs, NV.
Delbert and Dixie were independent uranium miners, living in Wayne, Piute, Sevier, San Juan and Grand counties in Utah as well as various counties in Colorado. They moved to Nevada in 1963, where Delbert was a ranch foreman on the Break-A-Heart Ranch on the Carson River.
Dixie was always involved in the Lord’s work and loved to do temple work for those who had passed on before her.
She loved to garden and enjoyed putting up the fruits of her labor with her daughters and granddaughters.  She loved making candy and confections during the holidays and sharing them with her family and friends.  Forever remembered by her family and friends will be her delightful cinnamon rolls.
Dixie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Delbert, having been married for 44 years and her youngest son, Mason, who passed away in Ely, NV in 2007.
Dixie is the last of her family’s generation, many of which served in WWII and the building of America’s defenses, mining uranium after the war.
Dick (Tootse) Wright, Clyde (Bonnie) Wright, Burke (Edna) Wright, Bill (Kay, still living) Wright, Zona (Acie) Goodell, Fritz (Billy) Wright, Keith (Elsie) Wright, Barbara (Don) Bittle and Don Wright also preceded her in death.
Surviving Dixie are five of her six children, their families and 78 grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren in Vernal and Emery, UT and Reno and Fallon, NV.
Funeral Services were held September 30 in Fallon, NV.  Burial followed in the Churchill County Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Davita Patients in Need, 1500 East 2nd St.  Reno, NV  89502
