Anna Lee Pehrson Burtenshaw

April 5, 1933 ~ March 26, 2011
Anna Lee Pehrson Burtenshaw was born on April 5, 1933 in Monticello, UT to Rodney and Josephine Hyde Pehrson. She passed away peacefully from the effects of Alzheimer’s on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Beehive Home in Provo, UT.
Anna Lee was a kind and compassionate person who made friends easily. She tried to stay close to her friends over the years. She attended school in Monticello and graduated from Monticello High School as the valedictorian.
She married Devon Burtenshaw in the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 26, 1951. To this union was born three children; Kaylene, Laurie, and Kim.
They started an automotive and towing business, Devon’s Repair Service, in 1962. Here they worked side by side until they retired in 1995.
Anna Lee and Devon were seldom apart. They spent their time camping, hunting, jeeping, snowmobiling, four-wheeling and boating. Spending time with family and friends was always a highlight for her. These were memories she tried to hang onto as her memory faded.
Anna Lee was a fantastic cook and always made sure there was plenty of food wherever they went. Her meals were never gourmet in nature; just good down-home cooking that everyone loved. She could put together a great meal at the drop of a hat.
She loved to read, sew, make quilts, and occasionally crochet. Her family cherishes the many quilts she tied.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including: Relief Society counselor and teacher, compassionate service leader, primary teacher and Cub Scout leader.
Anna Lee only had to be separated from her eternal companion for 60 days. On their 60th wedding anniversary, she left this life and went to celebrate with her dear friend and husband, Devon.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Geniel; and brother, Richard. She is survived by children Kaylene (David) Phillips of Orem, UT; Laurie O’Steen of Montrose, CO; and Kim (Cyndi) Burtenshaw of Monticello; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 1, 2011 in the LDS North Chapel and interment followed at the Monticello Cemetery.
