More than one-third of registered voters in county have already voted

More than one third of San Juan County voters have already cast their ballots with approximately one week remaining before the November 4 General Election.
More than 2,000 of the mail-only ballots have been returned to the San Juan County Clerks office. The office mailed approximately 6,000 ballots to registered voters in early October.
The clerks office reports that a number of ballots were returned by the postal service as undeliverable, but they are doing all in their power to get a ballot in the hands of each registered voter. It is the first San Juan County general election that will be conducted entirely by mailed ballots.
Clerk Norman Johnson said that if a registered voter has not received a ballot, the voter should contact the Clerks office. The office has been able to forward ballots to correct addresses in a number of cases.
The mid-term election features a number of contested countywide races, in addition to judicial retention elections. Federal races include the House of Representatives, while state races include the House of Representatives and Attorney General.
