Mike Thomason

Monticello City Council
Hello, my name is Mike Thomason and I would like to be your representative for City Council. Though not a native of San Juan County I have lived in Monticello for nearly seven years, prior to that my family and I lived in Hurricane, Utah for around ten years.
I am married to Kallie and have five children: Jason, Darian, Taylor, Jackson and Brinleigh. I am working as a Computer Technician for the state of Utah and cover San Juan and Grand counties. I have many years of experience in the private and public sector, have been a front line worker as well as in management.
The reason why I am running for City Council runs deep in my belief in our country. Though fiercely independent we are also a compassionate and giving people. Service is strong in our core.
From the very founding of our country men and women sacrificed everything, some their lives, so that their descendents, which include us, could be free to make our own choices and live life according to our convictions.
As we see events transpire locally and around the world we can easily see the need for individuals to stand up and take responsibility in serving this country we all love. I want to do my part in representing you.
I believe in limited government. I believe that government is best served to support the people and get out of their way. A free people are far better at doing what is best for them than a massive bureaucracy.
As your City Councilman I will work to help keep our local government in check. I will help keep spending in check and fight against unnecessary spending. The City Council are your representatives which is a responsibility I will take seriously.
