Medical school graduate

Ian Burtenshaw, formerly of Monticello, graduated with honors from Midwestern University School of Medicine on June 1 as a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Burtenshaw graduated summa cum laude and as valedictorian of his class in the college of health sciences.
During his four years of medical school he served as a national delegate for the American Podiatric Medical Students Association. This position gave him the opportunity to represent fellow students and his profession to the US Congress where he lobbied and petitioned on behalf of his colleagues.
He also had the opportunity to represent his colleagues internationally while serving as a liaison to the Federacion Internacional de Podologos, an international medical association. Ian was awarded the Jeffrey C. Page (Dean of Podiatry Dept) Distinguished Student Award, which is only given to one student per year.
Ian and his family will live in Seattle, WA, where he will complete a three year residency in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at Swedish Medical Center. Swedish Medical Center has long been recognized as one of the top tier podiatric residency programs in the United States.
Ian is married to Franki Fullmer Burtenshaw, also of Monticello, and they are the proud parents of three beautiful children.
Ian is the son of Kim and Cyndi Burtenshaw and the grandson of the late Devon and Anna Lee Burtenshaw, the late Daniel Shoemaker Jr. , and Barbara Shoemaker Corbin.
He is a graduate of Monticello High School and Utah State University.
