Progress on multiple health care fronts

The San Juan Health Service District is making progress on a number of fronts.
In coming weeks, the district is planning for the anticipated opening of a new health facility near 200 West and 750 South in Blanding.
The three-winged facility will house the health district clinic in Blanding, in addition to the main offices of San Juan Counseling and San Juan Public Health.
A combined open house will be scheduled when the facility is ready.
The facility was designed by MHTN Architects, with Tri-Hurst Construction as the general contractor. A host of local contractors were also used, including Northern Electric, Redd Mechanical, Sonderegger Construction, and Eddie Jim Painting.
There are a number of new employees in the district, including pharmacist Brian Bothwell, and Jayson Young, who provides on-site electrocardiogram service each day using radiology ultrasound equipment. Young will also help with the cardiac rehab effort of the district.
Ashley Reynolds began work as the new director of nursing in September.
The district will welcome a new surgeon, Mario LaGiglia, in 2018 after LaGiglia completes his military responsibilities.
Many of these new employees will work under cooperative relationships with other medical providers in San Juan County, including Blue Mountain Hospital and Utah Navajo Health Systems.
Beginning in coming months, the two hospitals in San Juan County will share a new mobile unit that will offer Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) services each day.

Marsing reports that the district’s net position increased by $297,257.

Net operating revenues were $12,697,108, a 5.92 percent increase from the prior year.
