UNHS opens new clinic, HQ in Montezuma Creek

by Rhett Sifford
Utah Navajo Health System (UNHS) administrators, providers and staff completed their move to the new Montezuma Creek Community Health Center and were in operation on July 27.
The 52,000 square-foot, two-story clinic was constructed by Korte Company at a cost of $18 million, according to Project Superintendent Chuck Eubanks.
He said the building “will be the crown jewel of the territory. It’s pretty high-end for a clinic, but it will last a long time.”
The building features a spacious, window-filled waiting area with a market where patients can buy food and drinks or enjoy free coffee.
The first floor includes dental and medical exam rooms, a radiology room, emergency room, drive-through pharmacy, elevator, and loading dock.
The new radiology department boasts a state-of-the-art Siemens Multitom R.A.X. (Robotic Advanced X-Ray Technology) X-Ray machine that is found in only a handful of U.S. locations.
It exposes the patient to 75 percent less radiation than existing machines and possesses the versatility to serve as an X-Ray Machine, a Fluoroscope, a 3D X-Ray machine, and more.
There are overhead televisions in the dental area that provide entertainment for patients during treatment and a conference room for UNHS staff and community members.
The clinic’s second floor includes UNHS offices, an employee gym and locker room area, and an outdoor covered patio area.  A helipad is located at the southwest corner of the building.  Nine air conditioning units cool the facility.
The new Montezuma Creek Community Health Center has a homey, welcoming atmosphere and has been busy since it opened.
UNHS CEO Michael Jensen said, “We want to make this clinic a place of healing.  We will be in a greater position to make [our patients’] experience as comfortable as possible.”
UNHS began in 2000 and operates four clinics in southeastern Utah.  Their administrative and corporate headquarters are located at the new Montezuma Creek Health Center.  For more information, visit unhsinc.org.
