Go fly a kite in Monticello

There are a lot of wonderful things associated with flying a kite: cool spring air, the imaginative dream of flight, and if you’ve seen Marry Poppins, a catchy song that easily sticks in your head.
The Monticello Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to be like Jane and Michael Banks and send their kites soaring during the inaugural Kite Festival held on May 21.
All kinds of kites, whether they are store bought or homemade, can be brought to the Monticello Elementary School grounds and sent into the atmosphere.
Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., and flying will last until 2 p.m. Prizes will be presented for the highest flown kite, the best homemade kite, the most colorful kite, and the most original kite.
So get your kites ready and prepare to send them where the air is clear. For more information, call Keith or Anna at 435-459-4961 or 435-587-3468.
