Events set to honor and remember cancer victims

A series of events to raise awareness of cancer issues will be held on Saturday, June 9 in Monticello. The annual cancer awareness celebration is sponsored by the Monticello Victims of Mill Tailings Exposure.
Events this year are dedicated to the memory of Marilee Bailey, a beloved Monticello resident who recently passed away from cancer. Bailey had spent the past years coordinating cancer screening through the district health department office.
A meal, provided by the Monticello Lions Club, will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. at the LDS Stake Center pavilion east of the Monticello Post Office.
Afterwards is the annual walk from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Monticello Memorial Mill Site Park. Luminaries line the path and honor cancer victims from the area. Your donations are deeply appreciated.
