Welcome to the SJR staff

by Bill boyle
Rhett Sifford is joining the San Juan Record staff as a part time guru of everything good. He will have a variety of responsibilities at the paper, including writing stories, covering meetings, and editing.
Rhett is a familiar face to many local residents and an even more familiar voice for Monticello High School sports fans.
For the past 14 years, he has been the voice of the MHS Buckaroos, while covering football and basketball over the radio for KAAJ-LP in Monticello.
Rhett has a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications from Ball State in Muncie, IN, where he focused on television and radio journalism.
He moved to Monticello in 2003. Rhett helped to start and continues to run the radio station. KAAJ-LP is owned by the First Baptist Church in Monticello.
Rhett and his wife Abby were married in June 2017. She works as a nurse at San Juan Hospital.
