Diplomas to 212 graduates this week

High school diplomas will be presented to 212 graduates in the San Juan School District this week.
Graduation services began on Monday, May 21 when seven graduates of Navajo Mountain High School received their diplomas. The graduates were addressed by Edwin Tano. Valedictorian of the class is Elisha Deschenie. The salutatorian is Maria Jensen.
Diplomas will be presented to the 47 graduates of Monticello High School at 7 p.m. this evening (Wednesday, May 23) in the high school auditorium. Tony Esplin is the featured guest speaker. Valedictorians for the graduating class are Ashley Rogers and Allyson Anderson. The salutatorian is Clarissa Jack.
Whitehorse High School will present diplomas to 36 graduates on Thursday, May 24 at 10 a.m. at the high school. Mario Platero is the featured guest speaker. The valedictorian is Katarina Benally, while the salutatorian is Sam Capoten.
San Juan High School will present diplomas to 80 students in ceremonies on Thursday, May 24 at 5 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Lloyd Bayles is the featured guest speaker. Summa cum laude honors will be presented to the 19 students who have a grade point average above 3.9.
The final high school graduation will be held at Monument Valley High School on Friday, May 25 at 2 p.m. where 42 graduates are slated to receive their diploma. They will hear from featured guest speaker Leeandrew SixKiller. The valedictorian of the graduating class is Evan Chief, while the salutatorian is Destinee Holiday.
Other graduation services in the San Juan School District were held on Tuesday, May 22 at Montezuma Creek Elementary and at Bluff Elementary schools.
Services at Tse’bii’nidzisgai Elementary School at Monument Valley are on Wednesday, May 23 at 6 p.m. Services on Thursday, May 24 begin at 9 a.m. at Blanding Elementary and Monticello Elementary schools. Albert R Lyman Middle School will hold services on May 24 at 11:30 a.m.
