County garners marketing award

San Juan County Received the “Best Special Promotion Award” at the annual Utah State Tourism Conference on Thursday, May 17 for their seven-minute video production featuring the spectacular county destination. It can be viewed here
The video was created by Mark Wade, owner of Occulus Media, who has more than 20 years experience marketing tourism.
Competition was fierce for the Tourism Marketing Awards, with agencies from Salt Lake City, Park City, and St George all in the running. The Park City and St. George agencies have budgets ten times what San Juan County has available to market their destinations.
“This award is a tribute to the creative thinking of our staff and certainly to the splendor visitors experience in Utah’s Canyon Country,” said Charlie DeLorme, Director of Visitor Services for San Juan County.
San Juan County encompasses Monument Valley, Canyonlands, Arches, Lake Powell, Natural Bridges, Hovenweep, Edge of Cedars State Park and the great Goosenecks of the San Juan River.
“Utah’s Canyon Country is an ideal location to capture on video,” said Mark Wade of Occulus Media. “The challenge comes in choosing which of the endless vistas and scenic attractions to highlight.”
The 250 attendees from the hospitality industry gathered for two days of cutting edge market strategy and networking at the annual Utah State Tourism conference, co-sponsored by the Utah Tourism Industry Coalition.
The Utah Tourism Conference provides the opportunity for tourism industry colleagues to learn new trends, technologies, and ideas from the best in the industry.
