Candace Priscilla Weed (1944-2007), our loving sister, mother, grandmother and friend, died peacefully in Norwood, CO on Saturday, September 8, 2007 surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and close friends.
Candace lived in Monticello, Utah, but was most recently spending time close to the support of her children in Colorado as she fought breast cancer.
Candace was born on October 30, 1944 in Walker Valley, New York to Joan and Eugene Weed.
She is pre-deceased by her parents and sister, Cheryl. Surviving her are two sisters, Maxine Weed (Thomas Rumley), and Jennifer Weed, brother Glenn Weed (Kathy), Candace’s life-long love and partner Mark Sullivan, son Dean Bubolo (Amber McComber), and two daughters---Sage Martin (Alex) and Jessica Galbo (Mark), stepdaughter Jessica Sullivan and stepson Colin Sullivan. Her nieces and nephews are Sara Halferty, Matthew and Jason Stanger, Erin and Shaun Weed. Candace has seven beloved grandchildren; Miles, Samson, Arabella, Henry, Jacob, Joseph and Mateo.
Candace lived a full life, rich with adventure and the desire to experience the natural world—rafting the Rio Grand, hiking the Grand Canyon, or fussing in her exquisite gardens—with the people she loved. She was a passionate advocate of preserving the natural environment and had a deep love and appreciation for Southern Utah.
Candace took great pride in her seven grandchildren and has given them, among many things, a deep appreciation for nature, a love of baking, dancing and singing, a sense of fun, mystery and possibility, and most importantly, her undivided attention and the knowledge that they were the most important things in her life.
Candace gave unconditional love---her innate gift—to every life she touched. She is remembered as a strong force and the center, the matriarch, of our beautiful family. Candace was a unique and precious gift. We thank her for all she did and for giving us all a fantastic time.
Candace was cremated and requested a picture memorial with an open house at her son’s home in Norwood, Colorado. The memorial will be held Saturday, September 15, 2007 from 11am to 7pm at 1415 Paradox Street (off of S. Pine St./ 327-4094). Food and drinks will be provided.
A heartfelt thanks to her breast cancer support group the Hospice Team, and the Monticello, Norwood, and Telluride communities for their loving support.
