Broncs best Bucks in tourney finale

The San Juan Broncos won their own invitational baseball tournament Saturday with a 4-0 win over the Buckaroos of Monticello.  The Broncos swept all three games in the five-team tournament that began on Thursday. 
Cole Einerson got things started for the Broncos in the opener against Dolores, CO, shutting out the Bears and allowing only two hits. 
The Bronco bats blasted the Bears early and often, scoring nine runs in the first inning and adding two more in the second and third innings to get the 13-0 win. 
Bobby Bowring and Bronz Eldredge both tripled for the Broncos as they amassed 11 hits. 
Six Broncos blasted doubles, including the alliterative quartet of Bobby, Barkley (Christensen), Bogh (Bayles) and Bronz. Chase Richmond and Logan Meyer also doubled but their names don’t begin with B.
Next up, the Broncos faced off against the South Sevier Rams for the third time in a week, gaining an 8-3 win. 
Barkley Christensen got the win on the mound, scattering five hits. 
The Broncos broke open a 4-2 game in the fourth inning with four runs to get the win.  Logan Meyer hit a home run, his second of the year, and Eldredge doubled for the third time this season, putting the Broncos in the final against the Buckaroos.
Monticello reached the finals by beating Dolores and the Millard Eagles. 
Shane Christensen picked up the win on the mound against Dolores, 8-1, on Thursday. 
Hunter Bowring tripled and Christensen doubled as the Buckaroos pounded out 11 hits off the Bear pitching. 
The Bucks pulled out a squeaker in the second round against Millard, when Easton Nielson hit a walk-off pop fly that scored Dillon Maughan to give the Bucks the 4-3 win. 
Austin Wilcox got the win on the mound for the Bucks, scattering 12 hits and allowing only three runs. 
Austin Maloy tripled and four Bucks doubled, Maughan, Hunter Bowring, Jake Giles, and Shane Christensen. 
The Bucks entered the seventh inning trailing 3-2, when Hunter Bowring got on base with a single after which Maughan smacked his double all the way to the fence, putting runners on second and third for the Bucks.  
Bowring was replaced by Drew Baird on the bases and scored on a fielder’s choice, leading to Nielson‘s heroics, putting the Bucks in the finals against the Broncos.
The final was a great baseball game, with the Broncos holding a slim 1-0 lead after scoring a run in the second inning. But, in the fifth inning, the Broncos pushed across three unearned runs to get the lead to 4-0. 
Monticello outhit the Broncos, but Bronco Logan Meyer scattered the Buckaroo’s seven hits and helped himself on the mound with a triple at bat to get the win for San Juan. 
The two teams squared off on Tuesday in Blanding for a double header, too late for press time, however.
Meyer is the statistical leader for the 5-6 Broncos thus far with a 2-1 record on the mound.  He also leads from the plate with two homeruns, two triples and four doubles. 
Bobby Bowring also has two triples and three doubles. 
Chase Richmond has one homer, one triple and one double, while Mason Shumway has the Broncos only other homerun along with a double. 
Bronz Eldredge has one triple and three doubles, Barkley Christensen has three doubles and Bogh Bayles has two doubles on the season.
For the Buckaroos, Shane Christensen is 2-2 on the mound and Austin Wilcox is 1-1.  Hunter Bowring leads from the plate with two triples and a double.  Christensen has three doubles and Austin Maloy has a triple and a double for the 3-4 Buckaroos.
Track
Look for the San Juan Track Invitational on Wednesday, April 3 in Blanding.  Should be exciting.
