Broncos stampede Tigers

The Broncos of San Juan High School welcomed the Tigers of Wasatch Academy to Blanding last Friday, April 18. The Broncos wasted no time taking control of game one of a double header as they scored four runs in the top half of the first inning.
San Juan continued to dominate play throughout the game to claim a 25-0 win.
In the second game, the Broncos again dominated the Tigers to the tune of a 27-2 victory.
Rye Nielson and Jordan Blake gave up only one hit each and combined for 10 strikeouts in game one.
In addition to the solid work on the mound, the Broncos bats went to work recording 19 hits, including 12 that resulted in extra bases.
Bronz Eldredge led San Juan’s offense with four hits on four at bats and two RBIs.
Nielson and Mason Bethea each recorded three hits in the win for the Broncos who rolled to a 25-0 win.
In game two of the double header, Nielson again got the start, picking up right where he left off in the first game giving up no hits and ringing up three more batters over the first three innings of the game.
Braxton Brown came on to relieve in the top of the fourth inning and did a fine job, giving up just one hit and one run while striking out five batters.
The Broncos used a big third inning to put the game out of reach by scoring 15 runs, including a solo homerun crushed by senior Chase Richmond well over the right field wall.
Nielson and Easton Lee led San Juan with three hits each, and Blake led the Broncos with three RBIs in the big 27-2 victory.
San Juan hosted Emery Tuesday, April 22 in Blanding. The game was scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start.
Friday, April 25 the Broncos will welcome the Grand County Red Devils to Blanding for their final Region 15 game of the year. That game is set to start at 3 p.m.
The San Juan tennis team was busy again this week playing in two matches on Thursday, April 17.
The Broncos beat Gunnison to start things off, but were unable to get going against Manti where they were able to pick up just one win in five matches. That match was won by Carter Holliday.
After a week off from play, Coach Craig Swenson’s girls take the field again this week when they host Emery on Tuesday, April 22 in Blanding. The game was scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start.
They will then head to Gunnison to take on the Gunnison Valley Bulldogs on Thursday, April 24 at 3:30 p.m.
They will then finish up their week at the Swing for Life Tournament with their first game starting at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25.
Lastly, there is one correction to make to last week’s article.
The San Juan softball team actually lost their game with South Summit 7-6 instead of winning 6-4.
