Gone Thriftin’ opens new location in Blanding

Gone Thriftin’ thrift shop has officially opened their new location! They now reside at 807 South Main Street in Blanding.

Gone Thriftin’ hosted their grand opening on Monday, August 26, where they were also honored with a Certificate of Recognition from Blanding City.

In April, Gone Thriftin’ purchased a large building on 800 South and Main Street in Blanding. They then took to renovating.

Renovations of the old building were vast and included but were not limited to: a new roof, new electric, new plumbing, painting, exterior improvements, hole repairs, water damage repairs, and adding central heat and air conditioning.

They also added dressing rooms to improve the shopping experience and improved the look of the front of the building by staining and repairing the wood and adding a beautiful new sign.

Exactly four months after the building purchase, Gone Thriftin’ opened their new doors to the public for the first time.

Because of all this work, the improvements it makes to Main Street, and the benefits to the community, Blanding City Mayor, Joe B Lyman, presented The Patterson Family with a Certification of Recognition of behalf of the town.

The plaque holding this certificate of thanks and encouragement was presented as part of the small ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Mayor Lyman was also one of the very first patrons of the new store, proudly supporting this growing business.

The ribbon-cutting was hosted by the San Juan Chamber of Commerce. Board member, Taylor Harrison, and Member Liaison, Kara Laws were in attendance to help mark the commemorative moment with owners Sherrie, Forrest, and Trent Patterson.

In a Facebook post congratulating the company, the San Juan Chamber of Commerce stated, “This thrift shop is a great addition to Blanding City… They are now helping provide more jobs, reduce waste, encourage up-cycling, and improve the look of Main Street!”

We are happy to have locally-owned and -operated businesses expanding and thriving in our communities.”

Sherrie Patterson stated that the new building will more than double the space they had available at the old store and will allow them to add more items, such as furniture, to their showroom.

Gone Thriftin’ also states that they are a little different from most thrift shops, washing every article of clothing that goes on their racks and offering pick-up options for donations.

Sherrie thanked everyone who has helped them along the way and invited everyone to stop by the store. This small, locally-run business is excited to start a new chapter in their business.
